This Dutch oven lasagna is a straightforward,  one-pot meal that amps up the classic with taller layers and irresistibly crispy edges. A cast iron Dutch oven evenly heats the lasagna as it cooks, infusing deep, rich flavor into  every layer.

STEP 1 Brown ground beef and sausage.  Add grated onion and minced garlic.

STEP 2 Stir in crushed tomatoes, fennel seeds, salt, and pepper. Simmer 20 minutes.

STEP 3 Whisk egg, Italian seasoning, garlic, salt, and pepper. Stir in cottage cheese.

STEP 4 Remove three-quarters of the sauce. Add a layer of oven-ready noodles.

STEP 5 Top the lasagna noodles with  one-quarter of the meat sauce.

STEP 6 Top the sauce with half of the  cottage cheese mixture.

STEP 7 Top the cottage cheese with  one-third of the grated cheese.

STEP 8 Repeat the layers. Cover and bake for 45 minutes then broil for 5 minutes.
