Homemade baked beans with molasses are a family favorite! A year-round comfort food recipe, soak beans in the morning, boil in the evening, and bake overnight. Great for summer cookouts or cold weather!

STEP 1 Soak dried beans in cold water for 8 hours, or up to overnight.

STEP 2 Cook the beans in water with baking soda. Drain and keep the liquid.

STEP 3 Stir ketchup, molasses, apple cider vinegar, brown sugar, and ground mustard in a cast iron Dutch oven.

STEP 4 Stir in chopped bacon and onion.

STEP 5 Stir in the reserved bean cooking water and the cooked beans.

STEP 6  Bake the beans on low heat in the oven for 8 hours. Serve hot as a meal or side.
